The ban was due to the presence of an insect (Lasioderma Serricorne) in storage facilities. Therefore, Dubai Food Safety Department held an inquiry into the matter and has issued a statement of its own.
The Dubai Municipality has confirmed that all Lipton products sold in the local markets are safe for human consumption and they do not contain any insects infestations of any kind. Also, the business that is responsible for the acquisition and production of Lipton goods has provided all the details. The bug only affected the French island of “Le Reunion” which is located in the Indian Ocean. Later investigation revealed that the bug’s swift growth in Le Port’s warehouses was to blame for the outbreak. The company has addressed the issue satisfactorily.
Contaminated goods have been located by the company and disposed of. Moreover, it has taken all the necessary measures to contain the outbreak and stop it from spreading.
In addition, the corporation carried out exhaustive inspections of its supply chains. None of them had any evidence of insect infestation.
