Today around sunset, an earthquake struck the Indian Ocean.
A magnitude of 6.1 or higher indicates an exceptionally powerful earthquake but if it had occurred in a public area, it may have resulted in widespread devastation.
“An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck was recorded in the Indian Ocean,” stations of the UAE’s National Seismic Network of the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.
“The earthquake occurred at 7.46pm UAE time,” NCM said.
A 7-kilometer-deep earthquake recently struck the United Arab Emirates’ Al Halah.
