On Tuesday, 3 October, Two earthquakes struck western Nepal in just a span of one hour. Consequently, eleven person got injured and buildings damaged. The earthquakes prompted a landslide closing a key highway, according to the authorities. The earthquakes sent shocks as far away as the capital of India.
Rama Acharya, an official with the interior ministry, has stated that two earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.3 and 5.3 occurred in the district of Bajhang in the Himalayan country of Nepal. The two earthquakes hit 25 minutes from each other. A landslide closed a key route that leads to the lowlands in the south.
According to Baburam Aryal, the highest ranking official in the district, a falling object has injured one person. Moreover, several residences in the town of Chainpur, which is located inside the district, collapsed.
People in certain sections of New Delhi, located in the adjacent country of India, hurried out of their homes and office buildings as earthquakes struck several northern districts. However, there were no early reports of damage.
A research group from the Netherlands had forecasted the occurrence of a significant earthquake in Pakistan the day before. The Solar System Geometry Survey (SSGS), which is based in the Netherlands, has produced a forecast that an intense earthquake would occur along the Chaman fault line in the province of Balochistan.
However, physicists, seismologists, and geologists have all disproved the assertions made by the Dutch institution.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).
