The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai made a statement on Sunday stating that the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is nearly 50 percent complete in its fourth phase.
Due to its size, the project contains five components and requires fifteen connections across thirteen kilometers. Deira, Bur Dubai, the Dubai Waterfront, Mina Rashid, the Dubai Maritime City, and the Dubai Islands are all part of its service area.
“Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project is one of the largest projects currently being implemented by RTA. The project, which serves about one million people, is set to reduce journey time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030,” according to RTA.
Phase 4 runs 4.8 kilometres from Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Al Mina Street’s Falcon Intersection. Three bridges 3.1 km long can carry 19,400 cars per hour in all directions.
“Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which spans 13 km along Sheikh Rashid Road, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street, aims to facilitate free traffic movement along the corridor, enhance the capacity, and step-up traffic safety,” Mattar Al Tayer, RTA director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, noted.
Dubai RTA improves bus routes and opens Stadium bus station for better transport.
The phase 4 include:
- The 780-meter, three-lane bridge connects Falcon Intersection to Al Wasl Road
- 1335m-long bridge with three lanes each way to improve traffic flow between Sheikh Rashid Road and Falcon Intersection
- A 985m, 2-lane bridge connecting Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street at the Falcon Intersection.
- Two Al Mina Street and Sheikh Rashid Road pedestrian bridges
