The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence discovered a Kolkata-based India Express aircraft Air Hostess at Kannur airport smuggling gold and concealing it in her rectum.
Surabhi Khatun hides about 960 grams of gold in her rectum.
She worked in the cabin on the May 28 Muscat-Kannaur trip.
The cabin crew on the Muscat flight captured 26-year-old Kolkata air hostess Surabhi Khatun in the early hours of Friday.
After that, the magistrate jailed Surabhi Khatun for 14 days.
“We confirm that an incident is being investigated by the Customs authorities at Kannur airport involving an employee. We are cooperating with the investigative authorities,” a spokeperson of the airline said.
After arresting Air India Express cabin staff for gold smuggling, the DRI is investigating additional crew members.
The DRI nabbed her senior colleague, Kannur-born Sohail, for gold smuggling.
A 10-year cabin crew veteran, Suhail, may have employed Khatun for smuggling.
According to allegations, Surabhi Khatun smuggled gold several times.
