At least 11 people killed in a nightclub fire that broke out during a birthday celebration in Murcia, Spain, with eight others still missing
At about 06:00 local time (04:00 GMT), emergency services announced on social media site X (formerly Twitter) that a fire had broken out at the famous Teatre nightclub in the Atalayas neighborhood in Murcia, Spain
“Emergency services confirm the death of 11 people in the fire that started in Atalayas” Mayor Jose Ballesta, said on X that they were investigating the cause of the incident.
Local emergency rescuers are combing the neighborhood for any survivors who may have escaped the building but have not yet returned.
He declared that the city of Murcia be in mourning for three whole days. Firefighters gained entry to the building at about 8:00 and reportedly found four bodies inside. Forty minutes later, they discovered a second set of corpses.
The smoke has sent four individuals to the hospital. At a local sports facility, affected people may now get counseling services.
The cause of the blaze, which occurred while the club was still busy, remains unknown.
