Before the captain’s event that was going to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the city of Ahmedabad, Pakistan’s captain and their best batter, Babar Azam, was flown in on a private jet from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad.
After arriving in Ahmedabad, the 28-year-old got together with Rohit Sharma, his compatriot who plays for India. It is important to note that Ahmedabad will also play home to the Marquee clash of the whole event featuring both teams.
As soon as they touched down in Hyderabad, the Men in Green received an enthusiastic welcome. Players including Babar, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi have expressed their gratitude for the support that they have received in the city. Before the start of global contest, each of the ten captains will participate in a press conference at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Pakistani Skipper was in Hyderabad for their warm up match against Australia. They play their first game of the tournament at the same venue. However, Babar Azam stole the spotlight of the event as a private Jet flew him to Ahmedabad for the Captains’ meet.
The 28-year-old struck fast half-centuries in both of Pakistan’s World Cup warm-up matches against New Zealand and Australia. Despite this, the Men in Green ended on the wrong side of the result both times.
In their match against New Zealand, Pakistan scored a respectable 345 runs, but the Kiwis were able to win with 38 balls and 5 wickets to spare. Australia had posted 351 on the board. In spite of half-centuries scored by Babar, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz, the 1992 World Champions fell short by 14 runs.
On October 6th, Babar Azam and the rest of the team will kick off their campaign in Hyderabad against the Netherlands.
