The Dubai Police Department unveiled a self driving security patrol car at Dubai’s biggest tech fest GITEX Global 2023.
The Dubai Police self driving patrol car has a maximum speed of 7 kilometers per hour, a battery life of 15 hours, and the capability to record 360 degrees using artificial intelligence.
The primary objective of autonomous security patrol cars is to enhance residents’ overall peace of mind and general safety in residential areas.
The security vehicle uses an AI system and smart technology that helps it read license plates, identify individuals using facial recognition technology, and spot suspicious or criminal activity.
The Dubai Police Department’s Command and Control Center can get information from these cars in real time thanks to wireless communication technology.
Lieutenant Rashid bin Haidar from the Dubai Police’s General Department of Administrative Affairs said that these vehicles are fully electric and eco-friendly self-driving security patrol cars.
These vehicles have the capability to investigate areas they cannot access directly by using an onboard drone facility.
“This drone can access areas the vehicle cannot and maintains direct wireless communication with the patrol once launched,” Lieutenant Rashid bin Haidar said.
Dubai Police have not yet revealed any information regarding the commencement of operations for their self-driving security patrol cars.
