The Meta platforms, which include Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, are currently experiencing downtime worldwide, according to reports from Downdetector.com.
The real-time internet and social media outage and monitoring service showed a spike in complaints of social networks’ failures at 8:16pm on their graphs including Facebook, and Instagram with top reports received.
Every time Instagram users attempted to access the site, they were unable to view the content because the error message “Something went wrong” appeared.
Similarly many Facebook users reported on Twitter that their Facebook got logged out automatically and they are unable to login again and is constantly getting errors.
Facebook and Messenger users were locked out of their accounts when login sessions terminated. Another “unable to log in” message followed by “an unexpected error occurred” pop-up when they attempted to access Facebook.
By 8:20 p.m., 353,256 people had reported that Facebook was inaccessible, according to Downdetector. At the same time, NetBlocks, which keeps tabs on internet governance and cybersecurity, has acknowledged the shutdown of social media.
“Meta platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Threads are currently experiencing outages related to login sessions in multiple countries; incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering,” NetBlocks wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
