After a month of fasting during Ramadan, people will celebrate the Islamic holiday of Eid Al Fitr with friends, family, and delicious food. Islamic celebrations always begin with a particular prayer. Early in the morning on the first day of Eid, people will begin gathering at mosques and other open-air spaces, known as musallahs, to pray in a unique collective prayer service. After gathering in one spot, the whole community prays the Eid al Fitr prayer.
To find the crescent moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid, the United Arab Emirates’ Moon seeing committee will gather on Monday night. The date of Eid, if seen, is April 9. If it doesn’t work, April 10 will be the date of the celebration.
