One of the most important things for most foreigners to do in the UAE is to get a Driving license. In most countries, you need a driver’s license to legally drive. However, there are a handful of countries where this need is not applicable.
In the framework of the Markhoos program, the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) provides a service that makes it easier to trade driver’s licenses. Tourists with a valid driver’s license can drive in the UAE, or they can exchange their license for one if they have a residency permission.
Anyone with a valid Driving license from one of these 43 countries can exchange it for a UAE license, according to a list on the MoI’s website:
