His Highness The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his grief at the death of his brother, Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was the representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
After a long battle with illness, Sheikh Saeed passed away today. The Presidential Court has declared a three-day period of mourning, beginning Thursday, July 27. This period will end at the close of business on Saturday, July 29.
“Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative, is going through a health problem. We pray to Allah Almighty to grant him quick recovery.” said in a statement, The Court.
His Royal Highness Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum expressed his condolences to the President.
The Ruler of Dubai and his sons also took to platform X (Twitter) on Thursday to share personal messages of condolence. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the emirate, was one of the first people to publish a prayer online along with a black and white photograph of Sheikh Saeed.

Sheikh Saeed was born in Al Ain in 1965. He held a variety of posts in the government prior to his appointment as the Representative of the Ruler of Abu Dhabi in 2010. In addition to that, he worked at the office of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates.
