Dubai has unveiled AI prompt engineering training effort, the first of its kind on a global scale. Named “One Million Prompters,” the initiative seeks to train one million individuals in prompt engineering within the following three years
Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Board of Dubai Future Foundation Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the initiative’s launch on Tuesday.
“With this global initiative, overseen by DFF, we aim to prepare, develop and empower competencies with the skills needed to harness the potential of AI applications to advance innovation, progress and economic growth,” Sheikh Hamdan said.
“We are experiencing a tremendous acceleration in technological progress, which requires new skills in labour markets. Coding was formerly in demand, but today, prompt engineering has become one of the most promising skills,” Sheikh Hamdan added.
According to the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, ‘One Million Prompters’ aims to expedite AI adoption. The first ever prompt engineering initiative to develop AI prompt engineering skills involves writing precise and effective instructions for AI systems to perform tasks from creating creative content to solving complex problems.
The project is part of a larger program that will include training courses in artificial intelligence and prompt engineering, as well as authorized certificates to prove one’s competence and set one apart from the competition.
In addition, it will host various competitions and provide a platform for talents to network and collaborate with experts across the technology ecosystem.
The Global Prompt Engineering Championship received thousands of entries from around 100 countries. Thirty finalists qualified from 13 countries to come to Dubai and compete for the title of Best Prompt Engineer across the competition’s three categories.
Tuesday was the championship final, and three finalists from each category competed for the top prizes at the Museum of the Future (MOTF).
In UAE the administrative roles are already taken by AI and the rest will also be done by it.
